If I Become a Millionaire

My family and I live in London. My father is a teacher, but he wants to become a millionaire. Because of this, he buys a lottery ticket each week, and takes part in this draw. He is very optimistic, and thinks that he will definitely be the winner. The raffle prize is usually at least eight million pounds.

If he were to win the prize, he wants to give half of it to me. Four million pounds is a lot for me and I have lots of plans for it. If he gives it to me, I will first buy a car, because next year I am getting my driving licence and I’m going to be able to drive. After high school, I’d like to go by car to see all the countries in Europe for a few months.

Next, I want to study dentistry at the best university in England. Therefore, I need a little money for my studies. If I become a dentist, I can treat my family and friends for free, because the cost of dentistry in England is very high.

I also want to build an old people’s home, because I would like to help old and elderly people. I would like to bring my grandfather and grandmother from Iran so they can be near to us. Also, when my father and mother get old, I can look after them in my own old people’s home.

من و خانواده ام در لندن زندگی می کنیم. پدرم معلّم است امّا می خواهد میلیونر شود. بنابراین هر هفته بلیتِ بخت آزمایی می خرد و در این قرعه کشی شرکت می کند. او خیلی خوش بین است و فکر می کند حتماً برنده می شود. حدّاقلِ جایزۀ قرعه کشی معمولاً هشت میلیون پوند است.

 اگر جایزه را ببرد، می خواهد نصفِ آن را به من بدهد. چهار میلیون پوند برایِ من خیلی زیاد است و برنامه هایِ زیادی برایش دارم. اگر آن را به من بدهد، اوّل یک ماشین می خرم، زیرا سالِ آینده گواهینامۀ رانندگی می گیرم و می توانم رانندگی کنم. دوست دارم بعد از دبیرستان برایِ چند ماه با ماشین به همۀ کشورهایِ اروپا بروم و آنها را ببینم.

 بعد می خواهم در بهترین دانشگاهِ انگلیس رشتۀ دندان پزشکی بخوانم. بنابراین کمی پول برایِ تحصیلم نیاز دارم. اگر دندان پزشک بشوم می توانم دندانِ فامیل ها و دوستانم را رایگان درمان کنم، چون هزینۀ دندان پزشکی در انگلیس خیلی بالاست.

  می خواهم یک خانۀ سالمندان هم درست کنم، زیرا دوست دارم به افرادِ پیر و مسن کمک کنم. دوست دارم پدربزرگ و مادربزرگم را از ایران بیاورم تا در کنارِ ما باشند. همچنین وقتی پدر و مادرم پیر شوند می توانم از آنها در خانۀ سالمندانِ خودم نگهداری کنم.

Arash: Congratulations. What did you win?
Neda: A car.
Arash: Do you have a licence though?
Neda: No. I want to sell it.
Arash: What will you do with the money?
Neda: I’m going travelling for a month.
Arash: Where?
