We Were Entering the House

Yesterday I went to the basement of the house to pick up my bicycle. I turned on the light and went down the stairs. I was picking up my bicycle when I saw an old black box on the ground. The door of the box was locked. However much I searched, I couldn’t find the key. I was breaking the door of the box with a wrench, when my sister entered the basement.

She was really surprised. I told her to be quiet. I opened the box and in it were some old photographs, a letter and a map. I took a good look at the map. It was a map of our house but, like a treasure map, there was a marker on it.

We picked up a shovel and pick and went up the stairs with the map. We entered the garden. We were digging up the garden when my mother came. We showed her the map. She told us that this was a very old map and it belonged to my grandfather.

After half an hour, we arrived at something under the soil. It was a box. We pulled it out. It was just like the box inside the basement. We opened the box. Inside the box was an amount of old money and gold.

We took some of the coins and gold to an antique dealer. First, the antique dealer asked our address and details and then said that they were very valuable but that he wasn’t going to buy them. We went home quickly. We were entering the house when one policeman and one person from the national museum came. They said that we had to give all the monies and gold to the museum.

ما وارد خانه شدیم

دیروز به زیرزمینِ خانه رفتم تا دوچرخه ام را بردارم. چراغ را روشن کردم و از پلّه ها پایین رفتم. داشتم دوچرخه ام را بر می داشتم که روی زمین یک جعبۀ قدیمیِ سیاه را دیدم. درِ جعبه قفل بود. هر چه گشتم کلیدش را پیدا نکردم. داشتم با آچار درِ جعبه را می شکستم که خواهرم واردِ زیرزمین شد.

 خیلی تعجّب کرد. به او گفتم که ساکت باشد. جعبه را باز کردم و در آن چند عکسِ قدیمی، یک نامه و یک نقشه بود. نقشه را خوب نگاه کردیم. . نقشۀ خانۀ ما بود امّا مثلِ نقشۀ گنج یک علامت رویِ آن بود. آن علامت باغچۀ کنارِ دیوار را نشان می داد.

یک بیل و کلنگ برداشتیم و با نقشه از پلّه ها بالا رفتیم. وارد باغچه شدیم. داشتیم باغچه را می کندیم که مادرم آمد. نقشه را به او نشان دادیم. به ما گفت که این نقشه خیلی قدیمی و مالِ پدر بزرگم است.

 بعد از نیم ساعت، به یک چیزی در زیرِ خاک رسیدیم. یک جعبه بود. آن را بیرون آوردیم. درست مانند جعبۀ درونِ زیرزمین بود. درِ آن را باز کردیم. داخلِ جعبه مقداری پولِ قدیمی و طلا بود.

 چند تا از سکّه ها و طلا ها را به یک عتیقه فروشی بردیم. عتیقه فروش ابتدا آدرس و مشخّصاتِ ما را پرسید و بعد گفت که آنها ارزشِ بسیاری دارند ولی او آنها را نمی خرد. سریع به خانه برگشتیم. داشتیم واردِ خانه می شدیم که یک پلیس و یک نفر از موزۀ ملّی آمدند. آنها گفتند که باید همۀ پول ها و طلاها را به  موزه بدهیم.

Maryam: Are you at home tomorrow afternoon?
Nik: No, I’m going out with my mum.
Maryam: Where are you going?
Nik: We’re going to the museum
Maryam: Which museum?
Nik: The National Museum of Iran.
Maryam: What does the national museum have?
Nik: Old coins and monies, statues, antiques, gold.
Maryam: Do you know the area?
Nik: Yesterday I got a map of Iran. It’s not very far. It’s near to the bazaar.

Arash: Yes, one of the neighbours was there.
Judge: Which neighbour?
Arash: Mr Tehrani.
Judge: And did you speak with Mr Tehrani?
Arash: Yes, we spoke about painting the basement and fixing up the garden.
