The Most Successful Singer in History

My brother and I are really into rock music. I play guitar and my brother has a really good voice. Out of all the singers in the world, we love Elvis Presley. In our opinion, Elvis was the ‘king of rock and roll’ and very skilled in this style of music. We have almost all of this american singer and actor’s songs and films.

Last year we went to Memphis to see his resting place.It was really busy there and hundreds of his fans were there. His resting place is one of America’s centres of tourism. It seems he still lives in the hearts of his devotees.

It’s interesting that, even after his death, sales of his works have increased and, selling one billion copies of his works, he still holds the record and is considered the most successful singer in history.

My brother and I, like Elvis, really love our mother and we recorded our first song for her and gave it to her as a present on her birthday.

من و برادرم به موسیقیِ راک اند رول خیلی علاقه داریم. من گیتار می زنم و برادرم صدایِ خیلی خوبی دارد. از میانِ خواننده هایِ دنیا ما عاشقِ الویس پریسلی هستیم. به نظرِ ما، الویس «سلطانِ راک اند رول» و در این سبکِ موسیقی بسیار ماهر بود. ما تقریباً تمام ترانه ها و فیلم هایِ این خواننده و هنرپیشۀ آمریکایی را داریم.

سال گذشته برایِ دیدنِ آرامگاهش به ممفیس رفتیم.  آنجا خیلی شلوغ بود و صد ها نفر از هوادارانش آنجا بودند.  آرامگاهِ او یکی از مراکزِ گردشگریِ آمریکا است. به نظر می رسد او هنوز در قلبِ دوستدارانش زنده است.

جالب است که حتّی بعد از مرگش فروشِ آثارش افزایش یافت و همچنان با فروشِ بیش از یک میلیارد نسخه از آثارش رکورد دار است و موّفق ترین خوانندۀ تاریخ به حساب می آید.

من و برادرم، مانندِ الویس، مادرمان را خیلی دوست داریم و اوّلین ترانۀ خود را برایِ او ضبط کردیم و در روزِ تولّدش به او هدیه دادیم.

Leila: I’m listening to a song.
Maryam: What song?
Leila: A song by Elvis. Do you like his voice?
Maryam: Yeah. I have most of his songs.
Leila: I love him too.
Maryam: Have you got his films?
Leila: Yeah, actually I saw one of his films yesterday.
